Sonja’s journey with BCRFA began in 2012 as a passionate volunteer, where she devoted her volunteer time to the organization’s events as part of the volunteer photographers team while also helping with the organization’s events.
After retiring from her career at The University of Alabama of Birmingham in January 2022, Sonja started a new chapter by officially joining the BCRFA team as a part-time Administrative Assistant. Alongside her administrative contributions, Sonja also continues to pursue her passion for photography through her professional freelance photography business, Authentic Life Photography.
In her role, she provides support to the President, Event Coordinator, Marketing & Communications Coordinator, and Board Members, and assists with volunteer training and activities.
A native of Mississippi, Sonja has made Birmingham a great home for her husband and three daughters.
