17th annual Pink Palace Casino Night raises $130K for breast cancer research

Over 200 guests took a gamble on an evening of gaming, food, and fun with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama!

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) today announced that its 17th annual Pink Palace Casino Night raised over $130,000 to fund local, lifesaving research across the state. The event, which took place on Saturday, March 1, at Soiree Event Gallery in Hoover, was attended by over 200 guests. Many of the guests were breast cancer survivors themselves.

The night spent by the gaming tables was filled with fun as guests took a gamble on casino gaming, placed bids on 76 silent auction items, and danced the night away to band II Da Maxx. Presented by the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB, Renasant Bank, and Tameron Honda and Hyundai, Pink Palace Casino Night is one of BCRFA’s largest fundraisers. All proceeds fund innovative breast cancer research at institutes from Huntsville to Mobile, including recent grants awarded to Birmingham’s O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB, Huntsville’s HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, and Mobile’s University of South Alabama Mitchell Cancer Institute.

“The success of this event for the 17th occurrence is a testament to the support of our community,” said BCRFA Board Chair Gloria Buie. “The money raised will aid in funding breast cancer research and improving outcomes for those affected by the disease. We are grateful to each sponsor, donor, and attendee who contributed to this event. The night is over, but we our community will continue to make a difference, together.”

“The BCRFA invests in research and organizes fundraising events like the Pink Palace Casino Night because we are working to accelerate scientific progress toward a cure for breast cancer,” said Beth Davis, President & CEO of BCRFA. “Our work remains important because it changes outcomes for the 1 in 8 women and 1 in 726 men who will be diagnosed with this disease. Through our commitment and dedication, the BCRFA is making a real difference in the fight against breast cancer.”

Pink Palace Casino Night was made possible by the combined work of the event committee, BCRFA’s board of directors, generous sponsors, and committed community members. After 17 years of gambling, gaming, and generosity, the event has raised a lifetime total of $1,180,000.
