Drive-Out Breast Cancer Golf Tournament Raises $106,000 for Research
On May 16th, 2016 the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama (BCRFA) held its 21st Annual Drive-Out Breast Cancer Golf Tournament at Old Overton Club. The event was presented by Tameron Honda & Hyundai. The annual golf tournament was started when BCRFA co-founders, Dolly O’Neal and Bruce Sokol, joined forces in 1996 with a goal of infusing additional funding and expanding breast cancer research at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Drive-Out Breast Cancer Golf Tournament was their inaugural – and very successful - fundraiser to support breast cancer research in our community.
At the awards luncheon, sponsored by Milo’s Tea Co., the top teams of the tournament were recognized. The 1st Place Gross award went to team Merrill Lynch, 1st Place Net was won by team WBRC Fox 6, 2nd Place Net was awarded to team Tameron Honda, and 3rd Place net went to team Sirote & Permutt.
“We are proud to be a partner with the BCRFA on this event, and throughout the year, to help fund the research that will save lives,” stated Rob Gallik, General Manager for Tameron Honda, event presenting sponsor.

About the BCRFA
Since its inception in 1996, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama has raised over $5.8 million to fund research, cutting edge equipment and experimental therapies at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. All funds raised stay here in the State of Alabama, but the research will have a global, life-saving impact.
